World Volkswagen Participating in Monmouth & Ocean County Food Drive

For Immediate Release:

For the third year in a row, you can drop off your non-perishable food items at World Volkswagen in Neptune , New Jersey.  Located at 4075 Route 33,  just west of the Garden State Parkway, the dealer recognizes the needs of others in these tough times.  Gino Dellomo, General Sales Manager of the dealership and a long-time resident in the area says, "At no time is it more important than now to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  World Volkswagen is committed to this community and its people."

The FoodBank began in 1984 when three people saw hunger at the Jersey shore and decided to make a difference. They purchased a small, dilapidated warehouse in Spring Lake. Carpenters, masons and other members of the community donated work, office furniture and supplies. Food streamed in from hundreds of donors. After one year, the FoodBank was serving 25 charities with 100,000 pounds of food.

Ten years later, nearly two million pounds of food was being distributed annually from the same small warehouse. Bursting at the seams, the FoodBank undertook a capital campaign in 1998 to construct a new facility in Neptune. Three years later, the current 40,000 sq. ft facility became a reality.
Today, the FoodBank serves over 270 pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs with over 5 million pounds of food annually.

World Volkswagen is a socially responsible corporation committed to education, economic development, and humanitarian advancement. We try to get involved with and support as many community involved organizations as possible. We are always looking for exciting new opportunities that allow us to get involved and we look forward to giving back to the community as much as possible.

World Volkswagen is located at 4075 Route 33, in Neptune, New Jersey. They have a huge inventory of New and Certified Pre-owned Volkswagens, as well as many late model used cars, like Toyotas, Hondas, and more. Now Is The Time To Buy 2011's

2011 Volkswagen Lineup
You’d think the hot-selling Jetta wouldn’t get any discounts despite 2012s arriving, but you’d be wrong. Like most of the 2011 VW lineup, the 2011 Jetta gets 1.9% financing for 60 months. The 2012 gets 2.9% for 60 months. There are more than twice as many 2011 Jettas than 2012s on lots. Nearly a quarter of them are diesel TDIs, which get no special financing rate no matter the model year.
The 2011 Jetta’s financing deal also applies to the relatively unchanged Golf, GTI and Touareg. There is a good mix of 2011s and 2012s on lots with roughly the same number of each model year available on the Touareg, which was redesigned for 2011.
In a bit of strangeness, the updated 2012 Eos convertible has the same financing deal of 0% for 72 months as the outgoing 2011. The 2011 and 2012 CC and 2011 Routan also have 0% financing deals for 60 and 72 months, respectively. Deals end Aug. 31.
What about luxury automakers and Korean companies like Hyundai and Kia? They’re not offering significant deals on outgoing models as most of their lineups are relatively new or they don’t have the inventories to warrant enticing incentives.
While these were some of the better deals we could find, there are no fire sales like we saw four or five years ago during employee pricing. That means automakers are managing their inventories better than they have in recent years, leading to more profits.
That also means there are fewer reasons for shoppers to wait until the model year has ended to hunt for leftovers on dealer lots. But if you're already shopping for one of the cars listed above, now is the time to get a deal.
Fine Print: All deals listed above are nationally available, but there may be additional deals that vary by region. Always check the incentives in your area before heading into a dealership.

Volkswagen, Ford lead in U.S. auto quality survey

See the Story on Reuters
 * Ford is No.2 after June pummeling in J.D. Power survey

* Overall perception more important that problems

DETROIT, July 12 (Reuters) - Less than a month after Ford Motor Co (F.N) was pummeled in one quality survey, a second survey has ranked it the No. 2 highest-quality U.S. automaker.

The second survey, released by Strategic Vision Inc on Tuesday, said that customers' overall feeling about their vehicles is more important than particular problems.

Ford owners reported more problems with their vehicles than the industry average, but rated the overall quality of the vehicles highly, according to the survey. They were particularly happy with the Ford Mustang coupe and convertible, the Flex, and the F-150 and 250/350 pickup trucks.

"People think of quality in a very different sense than just counting problems," said Christopher Chaney, a Strategic Vision vice president in charge of automotive research.

A company's use of new technology or styling can also play important roles, he said.

On a statistical basis, Ford tied with American Honda Corp and Nissan Motor Corp in for the No. 2 ranking. Still, Ford fared better in the Strategic Vision study than it did in a survey by J.D. Power and Associates last month, where it fell to 23rd place, its lowest ranking in a decade. The J.D. Power survey records difficulties faced by new car owners in the first 90 days of ownership.[ID:nN1E75M1JX]

Ford, the only U.S. automaker to avoid bankruptcy and a government bailout during the financial crisis, has recently been criticized for a clunky control system for its radios and difficult-to-use technology.

The Strategic Vision survey asks car owners to rate all aspects of ownership, from the process of buying a vehicle to its performance. The 2011 survey included 37,069 buyers of 2011 vehicles from September to December 2010. This is the sixteenth year of the survey, which is paid for by manufacturers.

Surveys like the Strategic Vision survey and the J.D. Power survey that attempt to gauge consumer sentiment are key pieces of industry marketing materials and help shape consumer opinion. They also help set resale values and warranty costs.

The idea that a car owner's overall experience could trump minor problems with a vehicle rests on the premise that there are few serious problems, those problems are typically fixed immediately at the dealership, and styling details can have significant impact, according to the survey.

Besides Ford, Volkswagen of America and Hyundai Motor America have also benefited from this, according to the survey. For details of the rankings, please see:[ID:N1E76A158]

On average, 30 percent of owners reported problems with Volkswagen's Jetta and Hyundai's Sonata, compared with 22 percent of owners reporting problems for all mid-size cars. Even so, the 2011 models of both vehicles had record sales, according to the survey. The higher incidence of problems didn't matter because Jetta and Sonata owners were happy with their overall purchase, according to the survey.

Volkswagen was the top-ranked car company in the survey, helped by its Golf, Jetta and Tiguan models. Hyundai ranked 8th -- last place -- because some of its non-Sonata models were poorly received and the period of the survey excluded some new models, Chaney said. Volkswagen’s New “Temporary Autopilot” is Cruise Control on Steroids

by Peter Murray

World VW News

Look Ma, no hands!
Innovative car maker Volkswagen has just brought us that much closer to a driving experience in which we don’t actually have to drive. Their Temporary Auto Pilot (TAP) semi-autonomously controls the car up to 130 kilometers per hour (80 mph). TAP combines two driver assistance systems already in use into a single comprehensive function: adaptive cruise control, which automatically adjusts car speed to maintain a safe distance from the car in front of you, and lane assist which uses sensors to keep you from veering from your lane.
TAP’s “Pilot Mode” will drive at a speed specified by the driver. In addition to changing speeds to avoid fender-benders, TAP slows down before bends in the road and even pays attention to speed limits and passing rules. City slickers will be especially appreciative of the automated stop and start maneuvers during traffic jams. TAP’s sensor system is based on a platform that includes camera-, radar-, and ultrasonic-based sensors augmented with a laser scanner and an electronic horizon.
Volkswagen unveiled their TAP technology at the HAVEit (“Highly Automated Vehicles for Intelligent Transport”) Final Event last month at the Volvo Proving Ground in Hällered, Sweden. Dr. Jürgen Leohold, Executive Director of Volkswagen Group Research, presented the technology. Quoted in Volkswagen’s, Dr. Leohold stressed, “Above all, what we achieved today is an important milestone on the path towards accident-free car driving.” TAP isn’t meant to allow the driver to kick back, watch a movie or take a nap (we will have those cars someday, but TAP’s not it). It’s meant to prevent accidents caused by inattentive drivers. Of course, that guy who sends text messages while driving is going to be even more likely to do so once he gets behind the wheel of a TAP car. But for the rest of us responsible drivers, TAP will not only make driving safer but more energy-efficient as well.

Volkswagen unveiled its "Temporary Auto Pilot" car at this year's HAVit Final Event.

TAP’s semi-automatic systems link today’s assistance systems with Volkswagen’s larger vision of fully automated driving. In collaboration with Stanford University, the car giant established the Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Lab(VAIL) to develop driverless vehicle technology. You’ve probably heard of or Junior’s parking theatrics. Although not fully-automated, TAP will probably do more to get robotic cars on the road than the growing number of driverless demonstrations. As we’ve emphasized in the past, the technological barriers to getting robotic cars on the road pale in comparison to the political barriers. People aren’t going to let go of the steering wheel and put their lives in the hands of a machine that easily. TAP provides an opportunity for people to adjust gradually to the idea, to get used to sitting back and realizing that the car will turn and slow down and brake when it’s supposed to.

Volkswagon doesn’t mention when TAP cars will be made available or how much they’ll cost. For those lucky enough to have one, the TAP cars are already going to feel fully-automated. Not that I can afford even a TAP-less Audi at the moment, but I’d love to sit back on the  Jersey Turnpike, put on some tunes, and watch the world go by without a lane-changing care in the world.

World VW in Neptune gets the 2012 Passat

For Immediate Release:
World Volkswagen will be the first dealership on the east coast to receive the all new 2012 Volkswagen Passat. The all-new Volkswagen Passat is scheduled to arrive at the World Volkswagen dealership on Thursday, July 8, 2011. However, if you want to catch a glimpse of the brand new beauty, you won’t find it in the showroom this weekend.
“We’ve got big plans for the all-new 2012 Volkswagen Passat,” marketing manager Michael Klimcsak said. “Our launch plan for the Passat includes displaying it at numerous local community festivals. This weekend it will be on display at ShrimpFest in Ocean Township, next weekend it will be on display at Waterfest, in Englishtown,  the biggest Volkswagen enthusiast car show on the east coast.”
The long awaited arrival of the new VW Passat has finally come. There has been a lot of excitement in the air about the new Passat, and we’ll finally be able to see what the buzz is all about over at World Volkswagen. I heard they’re even planning an exclusive blue carpet event in August, but I’m not sure I was supposed to divulge those details just yet.
